Details : Although the picture is a souvenir of Arizona Camp near Carentan during the festivities of June 2016, the scene could have been very well carried out in 1944. This paratrooper of the 101st Airborne Division (326th Airborne Engineer Battalion) is located on one of the many American camps that will be installed in the fields of Normandy in the aftermath of the invasion. While waiting to rally the men of his unit and resume the fight, a moment of meditation following the loss of his friends a few days ago is necessary, in the bottom of a jeep of the 82nd, another American airborne division.

Theme : 90th Infantry Division in Normandy
Time : World War II (1944)
Details : This man is an ammunition provider, in other words, in addition to being a soldier, he carries the charge to forward the supply of the collective Browning Cal.30 machine gun .In this picture, the strips of cartridges are housed in metal boxes, themselves carried by hand or arranged in a chasuble provided for this purpose. The strips consist of black (piercing) and red (tracer) ammunition. It will be observed, however, that on the battlefield, those with red spikes will be regularly withdrawn so as not to reveal the position to the enemy. The scene takes place in July 1944, this man belongs to the 90th Infantry Division “Tough Ombres” while it undergoes the intense fighting of the Mont Castre near Lithaire and La Haye du Puits, in the Cotentin.

Theme: US Army Paratrooper
Details: Reenactment of the famous photograph of Lieutenant Colonel Wolverton, CO of 3/506 PIR checking his equipment before embarking for Normandy in June 1944. This is the last photo taken of this man before his tragic destiny in the vicinity of Carentan. Wolverton will be killed even before touching France. The model is currently wearing a M-1942 jacket, reinforced M-1942 trousers, a pair of jump boots and various equipment (binoculars, map case, B4 life jacket, etc.).

Theme: World War II (1940)
Details: This group of French machine gunners is in training during 1940’s spring. Their weapon is a heavy Model 1914 Hotchkiss machine gun. Although completely outdated because of its weight and its rigid supply bands in 8mm Lebel, this weapon is still equipped the French army on the evening of the Second World War. In a few months, the training will leave its place to the hard reality of the fighting.

Theme: United States Marine Corps
Details: This uniform is that one worn by the soldiers of the Marine Corps for the parade. The scene can take place during a commemoration, a meditation or a medal ceremony. The soldier is the color guard and carries the heavy burden of maintaining high the American flag, which at that time contains only 48 stars for 48 states. The Marine Corps (USMC) will be widely deployed in the Pacific theater of operations (PTO) during the Second World War.
