Theme : 3rd US Armored Division in the Bulge
Time : World War II (1944)
Details : This portrait could have been that of a soldier belonging to the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment (3rd Armored Division “Spearhead”) stationed near the Bulge at the end of 1944 after the hard fighting of the Hurtgën Forest. The M-1943 uniform lacked a unit patch on the left shoulder because the regiment was reinforced by elements of the 1st Infantry Division “Big Red One”. The humidity and cold of the autumn began and the battle was far from over.

Theme : US Paratrooper in Normandy
Time : World War II (1944)
Details : Although the picture is a souvenir of Arizona Camp near Carentan during the festivities of June 2016, the scene could have been very well carried out in 1944. This paratrooper of the 101st Airborne Division (326th Airborne Engineer Battalion) is located on one of the many American camps that will be installed in the fields of Normandy in the aftermath of the invasion. While waiting to rally the men of his unit and resume the fight, a moment of meditation following the loss of his friends a few days ago is necessary, in the bottom of a jeep of the 82nd, another American airborne division.

Theme: World War II (1940)
Details: This group of French machine gunners is in training during 1940’s spring. Their weapon is a heavy Model 1914 Hotchkiss machine gun. Although completely outdated because of its weight and its rigid supply bands in 8mm Lebel, this weapon is still equipped the French army on the evening of the Second World War. In a few months, the training will leave its place to the hard reality of the fighting.
